Cathy Young is a writer at The Bulwark. She is also a columnist for Newsday, and a contributing editor to Reason.

Previously, she was an associate editor at ArcDigital and a columnist for the Boston Globe, the Detroit News, and RealClearPolitics. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, the Week, Foreign Policy, the Atlantic, Quillette, the New Republic, and elsewhere.

Young, who was born in Moscow and came to the United States with her family in 1980, is the author of two books: Ceasefire!: Why Women and Men Must Join Forces to Achieve True Equality (Free Press, 1999) and Growing Up in Moscow: Memories of a Soviet Girlhood (Ticknor & Fields, 1989)

She has a B.A. in English from Rutgers University.
